The Future of Marketing

We are entering the biggest transition I have seen to date in the 28 years I've been a professional marketer.

I spend much of my time these days observing the shifts in the marketplace, identifying patterns and interpreting those & working out how to apply them.

Last week I delivered a brand new half-day corporate workshop "The Future of Marketing".



It was fascinating diving into the challenges faced by such a diverse range of businesses - from tech to retailers and professional services.

Everyone is facing similar issues as the marketplace is calling all brands to step up higher to do things differently.

Here are just four of the big shifts that are occurring globally (in both B2B & B2C, and personal brands too!)

πŸ’₯ Brand Energy

No longer just about having people “know, like and trust” you, we need to delve deeper into quantum physics to embrace the powerful forces at play driving the “brand to audience” connection.

And unlike the others that can be curated via clever narrative, this one is exciting because it can’t be faked.

πŸͺ Deep Congruence

More than just consistency across visuals, values and actions, people are looking for brands to be so instinctively aligned in every expression and they “pick it up”.

πŸ’› Brands as Humans

People don’t care about your logo anymore. They want to see your face, and your personality.

And if you’re showing up consistently as a one-dimensional entity you’re missing out on so many connection points. Because humans behave differently in different contexts, it’s what we want from brands too.

🎯 Messaging Precision

People are just fatigued so have a vastly reduced processing capacity. Messaging needs to adapt accordingly and be simple, consistent and both head/heart. Tapping into the zeitgeist of "feeling first" right now, strongly supported by logic and reason.

Bottom line?

It's equal parts fascinating, challenging and imperative for businesses to get across the "new way" of connecting - and I’ve never seen such big shifts occurring so rapidly.


This is marketing in 2022 and beyond.

It’s the new frontier but definitely a huge opportunity for those willing to step into it and embrace it!
