Don't plan like usual for 2023!

2023 isn't going to be "smooth sailing" for most people.


However it's shaping up to be "interesting sailing" for quite some time I reckon :-) 

Particularly when it comes to getting their message out -  getting attention, and creating impact and connecting with customers.

Just. You. Watch.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, though.

Just definitely *not* "business as usual".

Personally I do believe that the first three months of next year will be unlike anything we have ever seen in business before.

But while I see the winds of change on the horizon, the storm clouds, I also see the sun behind the clouds.

And this excites me.

So unlike every other year in the last few decades, I have not mapped out a concrete plan for next year. 

More like a paper sketch.....

With a pencil and an eraser on hand.  :-)

What I HAVE been doing though, is getting my boat, my vessel, in tip-top shape.

Equipping it with supplies, polishing it and checking the mechanics and strengthening the sale.

Getting myself ready :-) 

Fueling my energy.

So when it comes I'll be ready. 

What's going to happen in the next 2-3 months will surprise you. 

I'm not playing a fortune-teller here.

But I am future casting.

I usually sense big shifts 18-24 months in advance and begin to gently align towards those before most people.

Which is why I'm usually ahead of the trends.


But I've never had such a strong knowing in my "knower" (as one of my clients puts it!) that the business landscape is going to look very different in the new year.

After the holiday break. 


As people shed the baggage and busy-ness of 2022.

And it will be a global phenomenon.

Exactly how this will play out I can't tell you yet. 

But I believe with everything in me, that there will be a lot that will be different in *most* of our businesses in 6 months hence.  

And personally, I want to be fresh, energised and equipped to ride this approaching wave.  

Wherever the wind blows in from. 

However big the swell may be.  

Wherever the opportunities emerge.

I was sharing these thoughts with a few of my students on a mentorship call yesterday. 

Each of whom are birthing very powerful, potent initiatives into the world, literally right now.   

And my advice to them was – Be gentle to yourself in this season. 

If there’s something that you feel led to do, or is lighting you up, by all means do it.  

But in the absence of a clear leading, and the feeling of flow around something….. 

.....Rest......Go gently right now.

Don’t hustle too much, or push too hard, or do a last-minute sprint.  

You’re unlikely to get a whole lot of leverage on your effort right now. 


Instead, conserve your energy and focus for the new year.  


And be ready to come out of the gates decisively.  

With a new, fresh approach.

When many others will be flailing and fatiguing.  

Stuck in the old ways and habits. 

That worked well once upon a time, but are outdated.

Which will be turning people off quicker than ever. 

While shifting things out of their calendar like never before.

If you’re feeling like you need more rest, take it.

If you need more “alone time” make some space for it.

If you need to let things go, be completely ok with it.

Knowing the priorities for each day have a way of realigning themselves when you're open to how that might look.

Knowing the ultimate priority is YOU.

Managing your state, your energy and your focus.

Finding the beauty of the season we're in. 

And feeling ready to embrace what's to come. 


It’s been a big year.

Finish it in flow.

You’ve got this.
