The secret to resonance in a world full of noise ✨

content marketing thought leadership May 01, 2025

Deep connection doesn't need oversharing.

Over the last few months I've been healing.

Deeply. Slowly. Differently than ever before.

And while I’ve kept much of the journey close, and don't feel the need to broadcast my life to the world, I’ve also been reminded of something I teach so often in my work:

Authentic branding isn’t about sharing everything. It’s about sharing what’s true.

A few quiet reflections here and there as I’ve felt inspired to do so, have sparked the most unexpected resonance.

What surprised me most wasn’t how many people noticed, but who leaned in: thoughtful, discerning leaders who don’t engage lightly. It was a reminder that authentic connection travels further and deeper than we think.

It’s reinforced something I’ve actively taught for many years.

When we show up with just a little more openness - a glimpse behind the curtain - it doesn’t diminish our professionalism. It deepens our connection.

People don’t connect to a highlight reel. They connect to humanity.

The more we show up as real, relatable, and reflective leaders, the more we create space for others to do the same - and connect with us in the process..

According to Gartner, people who show up as connectors (not just content experts) increase the chance of a major sale by 90%.

This isn’t a new idea for me, it’s a message I’ve taught for years. But it feels just as true, just as transformational, as ever.

Especially now, as I navigate everything with a little more softness and slowness.

And while I’ve been living in the quiet, healing in the background and working more slowly than usual, I’ve also been living the very message I’ve taught for nearly a decade.

That’s why I’m not just living this — I’m actively teaching it too.

This journey has is reinforcing a truth I’ve held for years: authentic branding isn’t about sharing everything - it’s about sharing what’s true.

Strategic self-expression isn’t just important - it’s your biggest competitive advantage in today’s saturated world. (Wondering how to show up fully and professionally without oversharing? This article lays out the exact roadmap.)

Because when you share snippets of your truth - intentionally, without oversharing – that's what people really connect with.

It doesn’t diminish your capability or professionalism.
It amplifies your humanity.

And with all that's going on, we can all use more some of that right now, that's for sure.

That’s how you resonate.
That’s how you become the lighthouse, not just another voice in the crowd.
